The Second Coming of Punxsutawney Phil

by Alex Youngman

The center cannot
Hold, unless it does. Sometimes
The center’s all there is,

With all kinds of rough
Beasts slouching circuitous
Circles around it,

An endless array
Of groundhogs looking backwards
To see only a gap.

Things don’t fall apart, rather,
They keep on repeating.
