AT NIGHT

by Logan Berry

An artery greets moonlight
Glinting off a scythe

Black blood splatters the pond
Where fermenting vapors hover
Over yellow frogs
Croaking dirges in the feculence

Everything weeps & sweats
Out here, where everything belches
Before collapsing:

Servers & skins devoured by mosses
Keeling to mud

The buzzing swarms crumpled & torn
By pincers, beaks, & tongues
Propelling digestion
In God’s infinite intestine

As drunk drifters sing & sway
To the wailing highway

Headlights slicing darkness
Accelerate into the horizon
Vanishing
